Vision Zero Water Graphic

ART DIRECTION: Hataya Tubtim, Kathy Gallegos

ASSISTANT/RIGHT-HAND MAN: Fernando Niebla

PHOTO DOCUMENTARIAN: Genessis Martinez

OBJECTIVE:

Create a 2-color graphic for the element of water to eventually be spray-painted on 10 blocks of Figueroa Ave to bring attention to Avenue 50 Studio's Vision Zero Project: Trees of Life.

This was a street activation project meant to engage the local community and took place over the course of 5 days. Each day had an elemental theme and the day I would be participating in would be for the element of water.

The goal was to create a graphic that had to be simple, yet recognizable as water and "play along" with another artist's style.

Once a design was chosen, 2 stencils were created and then the final design was spray-painted (with a chalk based spray paint) between Avenues 50 - 60 in Highland Park, CA on Saturday, June 24, 2017.

My assistant and I completed about 52 iterations (give or take 2) of the water graphic down the 10 blocks of Figueroa Ave.
